Patient's rights are the moral, clinical and the legal entitlements of an eligible patient while being treated at the Riyadh Care Hospital. Eligible patients are those individuals who are entitled to receive care at the Riyadh Care Hospital. |

PATIENT RIGHTS |
|
|
|
|
|
A. Access to Care |
|
|
|
|
|
- All eligible patients have the right to an impartial access to all the facilities available
in the hospital whenever medically indicated.

The hospital is professionally and ethically responsible for providing care to all the
patients once they report for their treatment.

The hospital is liable to maintain and protect the integrity of the clinical decision
making without compromising the quality of care and decisions based on the internationally accepted medical standards.

B. Respect and Dignity |

|
|
|
|
- All eligible patients have the right to considerate, respectful care at all times and
under all circumstances with recognition of their personal dignity.

The Hospital will recognize and respect personal beliefs, values (spiritual/religious)
of all the patients at all times.

|
|
C. Right of Privacy and Confidentiality |
|
|
|
|
|
- All the eligible patients have the right to personal and information privacy (as per
the laws of the Kingdom).

To expect all the circumstances and records pertaining to their care to be treated
with utmost confidentiality.

To refuse to see or talk to anyone not officially connected with his/her direct care of
treatment including visitors.
-
To be examined and interviewed in surroundings designed to ensure reasonable
visual and auditory privacy.

To wear appropriate personal clothing including religious or personal items provided,
they do not interfere with diagnostic or treatment procedures.

Not to remain disrobed for longer than necessary for examination or treatment.

To request for a person of the same sex or a family member to be present
during examinations, treatments or procedures performed by health professionals.
(The decision regarding whether or not it is appropriate for a family member to
present rests with the health professional performing the examination, treatment, or
procedure.
Family members may not be allowed during certain procedures like operative
procedures X-ray or invasive diagnostic procedures).

The right to expect that any discussion or consultation involving his/her treatment
will be conducted discreetly and any individual not directly involve in his/her care
will not be present without his/her permission.

Not to have any individual not concerned with his/her case present during
examination or treatment without his/her permission.

To have his/her medical /dental records read only by the individuals directly
involved in his/her treatment or in the monitoring of the quality of care.

To expect all information concerning his/her case including the financial source to be
treated with utmost confidentiality.

To request transfer to any other room if he/she is disturbed by another patient or
visitors of other patients.
-
To request for the second opinion from another qualified consultant in the event of
unsatisfactory progress or recovery.
-
To request transfer to another consultant in the same specialty, if available, if
irreconcilable conflicts arise with the treating physician.

A mentally capable patient has the right to determine the time and manner in which
sensitive information is to reveal to his family members and others.

If a patient is mentally incapable, the patient's medical records should be made
available to his/her legal guardian or to any designated person (as allowed under
the Saudi law).

D. Right of Information |
|
|
The eligible patients have the right: |
|
|
- To know the identity (name) professional status (qualifications, position, experience)
of the primary physician and other physicians responsible or requesting for providing
medical and dental care and of any other individuals providing service(s) to them.
- To be provided complete and updated information regarding his/her medical
condition from the attending physician responsible for his/her case. This information has to be communicated in simple and understandable language which the patient can reasonably understand.

To have right to request for an Interpreter if necessary.

To participate in decision making effecting to his/her health and not to be subjected
to any diagnostic /invasive procedures without his/her consent or without the consent of his/her legal guardian.

The patient has the right to know who is responsible for prescribing or performing
the procedures.

To be informed of the benefits, risks, complications and therapeutic alternatives for
diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Patient has right to know the answers for his/her queries prior to signing the consent.

To know the reason for referral to another facility prior to agreeing to transfer.
-
To be informed about the need for continuing health care requirements after
discharge from the hospital.

To accept or refuse participation in clinical research upon receiving full information of
the procedure, risks, and benefits involved.

To request and receive an itemized bill for the services provided to him/her
regardless of the source of payment.
-
Right to know the channels for lodging complaints concerning his/her medical care,
or financial bills for any concerns.
-
To receive information about applicable laws and regulations on organ donation.
-
Right to be informed on protecting his/her valuables during his stay in the hospital.
-
Right to refuse treatment as per the Saudi Government rules.
-
Eligible patients refusing treatment should be fully informed by their physician or
Dentist of any risks incurring by doing so and sign a release form stating that they have been informed of all the risks involved.

To receive visitors during the normal visiting hours and in accordance with the rules
of the Hospital, unless their physician or dentist believes that this would endanger their health.

To receive letters, telephone calls at reasonable hours from the relatives/friends
except in critical areas.

To have the right to appropriate assessment and management.

Right to be provided information for the assistance of a Social Worker or Patient
Relation representative to explain anything they do not understand and to help resolve difficulties and concerns.

E. Right to know Riyadh Care Hospital Rules & Regulations |
|
|
The eligible patients have the right: |
|
|
To be informed of all rules/regulations applicable to them and their visitor's conduct as
patients especially for visiting critical care areas like ICU, CCU, NICU.
|

|
|
|
|
PATIENTS RESPONSIBILITIES |
|
|
|
|
|
The eligible patient's responsibilities are: |
|
|
- To provide to the best of their ability accurate and complete information about their
present complaints, past history, including information about last hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to their health.

To seek clarifications if the plan of treatment, risks, benefits and alternatives are not
understood.
-
Patients are responsible for following strictly the recommended treatment plan and
the specific instructions given by the nurses and other health care providers.

Patients are responsible for keeping appointments and when unable to do so for any
reason, notifying the Hospital about their inability to keep the appointment.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: |
|
|
Patients are responsible for assuring that the financial obligations involved in the treatment of their health care provided by the Hospital are fulfilled as per the Hospital's policy. |
|
|
|
|
|
REFUSAL OF TREATMENT: |
|
|
The patients are fully responsible for the outcome of their refusal to treatment recommended by the Hospital physicians or when they do not comply to the instructions given by the attending physician or any other health care professional. |
|
|
|
|
|
HOSPITAL RULES AND REGULATION: |
|
|
Patients and their visitors, relatives are responsible for following all the Hospital rules and regulations affecting the patient care and their conduct in the Hospital. |
|
|
|
|
|
Patients and their visitors, relatives are responsible for being considerate and respect the rights of the other patients, Hospital staff and in particular assist the Hospital authorities in the control of noise pollution, smoking restrictions. |
|
|
|
|
|
Patients are responsible for being respectful to the property of the Hospital and other persons in the Hospital. |
