Out Patient Pharmacy
is the unit in the department wherein the pharmacist caters directly to the patient. This is where the pharmaceutical needs of all ambulatory patients are serve. The renovated outpatient pharmacy allow space for patient counseling on drugs.

Compounding Laboratory
provides pharmaceutical dosage forms which are not commercially available. Extemporaneous preparation of oral and external dosage forms from commercially available medication are prepared to meet specific patient needs and it ensures patient compliance.

Unit Dose Repackaging
provides the necessary information and guidance to correctly repackage oral solid and liquid drug products in single unit packages. It ensures that the most currently recognized packaging and storage methods are followed in the preparation of these items.

IV Admixture
assures the supply of sterile IV admixed medications to inpatients using Aseptic technique standards and to provide sterile IV admixture in piggy bags.
Equipment & Technology

Computer System for In-Patient & Out-Patient Dispensing Area is an automated
program for all pharmacy transactions for accurate information and easy retrieval thereof.

Unit Dose Tablet Repackaging Machine use for repackaging of loose oral
tablets into single unit dose with appropriate label.

Laminar Flow Hood for IV Admixing ensures aseptic environment for the
preparation of Total Parental Nutrition (TPN), Antibiotic IV Piggybags and
Extemporaneous Ophthalmic preparations.
Message from the department head
Being providers of a pharmaceutical care, in the Pharmacy Department, plays a pivotal role in the activities of riyadhcare Hospital are proudly to strive to meet patient’s satisfaction.
The role of the hospital pharmacist has changed dramatically in the last two decades, from custodian of pharmaceuticals to patient-focused healthcare provider. This is reflected in the development of Clinical Pharmacy Services at riyadhcare Hospital. Through our Clinical Pharmacy Service, the Pharmacy Department aims to maximize the therapeutic benefits of drugs to individual patients whilst minimizing associated risks and respecting patient choice. This is achieved through the safe, effective and economic use of drugs within the hospital.
The Ward Pharmacy Service has been progressively extended to cover the majority of wards within the hospital. Many of our pharmacists work full-time at ward level as part of an interdisciplinary approach to improving patient care. The duties of the ward pharmacists include prescription and adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring, participation on consultant's ward rounds and counseling individual patients on their medications.
